Taking responsibility

Day Zero Project Item #23:
50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind

Every Friday (you know, if I remember), I’ll post my answer to one of the 50 questions.

9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?

Free will. We all have it. There is no such thing as destiny.

Well, you know, that’s what I believe.

There is no set path for my life. There is no specific person I will end up with. Nothing is set in stone and I always have a choice.

Sometimes I like to blame the things that have happened to me on other people. I play the Blame Game a lot.

But the truth is, and trust me I know it, I have controlled every twist and turn. Maybe I didn’t always realize I was in control. Sometimes I felt like I had no choice. But there was always a choice along the way, and usually I chose the easy one. The path of totally least resistance. Because that’s how I roll.

It’s not such a bad thing, taking responsibility for the choices you’ve made. I mean, they haven’t all been bad. And even the ones I may have thought were “bad” actually turned out to be not so terrible.

So this is me, taking responsibility.

This is my life. I take credit for the good things and I take blame for the bad things. Even in those times that I felt I really had no other choice, I really did.

We always do.

There is always a choice.
