Kindle reminds me of kindling…

A visit from my dad this weekend resulted in delivery of a multitude of items. Some of them I was expecting, some of them I was not. I am, nonetheless, grateful for each of them.

One of these items was a Kindle. And, yes, I was one of those people declaring she didn’t want a Kindle because she enjoys reading “real” books. But my dad and his siblings bought their mother (my Nana) the Kindle, and she didn’t like it. So everyone decided to give it to me. Because I’m pretty much the only person on that side to enjoy reading? I don’t know. So they bought Nana an iPad, and I got the Kindle. I suppose I could have said no, but I have decided to give it a try.

I can’t tell you what I think of it yet. This version doesn’t have 3G capabilities, so I have to be able to connect to wifi to download anything. I can’t download from Amazon yet, because you have to connect to wifi to “deregister” (it’s currently registered to my dad’s account, and I can’t guess his password). So, for now, I’m stuck. I can’t play with it until I start stealing somebody’s wifi (or go to the library; library has free wifi…). But I do plan on telling you what I think of this strange technological contraption. It just might be a while down the road.

Do you have a Kindle (or Nook, or similar device)? What do you think about it?
