I have started writing, creatively, again. The inspiration really has come from my good friend, Brianna. I started writing a story a few days ago, getting myself into the groove of writing every day so that I will be prepared for November’s NaNoWriMo (which I have never participated in, but am looking forward to this year).
So, last Sunday I stayed up until almost midnight writing (this is late for me, since I became a mother and started making myself go to bed at the same time as the little monster). I got to page 8! Eight pages of writing that may have not been poignant or earth-shattering, but it is the first 8 pages of creative writing I have done in several years. You want to know what happened, even though I obsessively hit CTRL+S every five seconds?
I promise I did not freak out too badly. I remember the basics of the story, and nothing I wrote was really all that fantastic (although it wasn’t awful). But still, how discouraging for this to happen after not writing for so long!
P.S. Just to make things clear, I am not cheating. This is not the story I am going to use for NaNoWriMo. This story is just my gateway to getting me into the groove of writing every night – which I will need to do throughout November. My NaNoWriMo novel will be a completely different story.
Update: At work on Monday, I plugged my little junk drive into the computer and was able to open the file just fine. Well, almost. I think I lost a sentence. Not that it matters too much. Yesterday I wrote two more pages. Go Me!
